This is a 8" x 2" ductile steel caster wheel paired with Caster Connection’s CC Peak maintenance-free swivel caster rig.
The CC Peak is our premium caster rig. It provides exceptional advantages on many levels. One key here is the seated ball bearings. With a kingpin caster rig, the weakness of the kingpin can cause the ball bearings to be unevenly distributed and even fall out, and the nature of the kingpinless rig is that you cannot 100% assure that the ball bearings will all be distributed perfectly at all times, because you must pour them into the raceway. With the CC Peak, you start with thrust ball bearings that are perfectly aligned every time because they are seated in place together. This gives you a smooth and consistent motion every time. In addition to the thrust ball bearings, a tapered roller bearing stabilizes and smooths the performance of the caster at multiple angles. The result is a caster that is butter smooth with tremendous strength.
To add to this strength, the CC Peak connects the top and bottom sections of the rig in a unique way. It starts with the simplicity of design of the kingpin, but improves this design entirely. The CC Peak uses a “forged kingpin” as its connection mechanism. Essentially, the bottom section and the kingpin are one large forged piece of metal. This forging process produces a caster with fewer separate parts. Metal sections that are normally connected with a standard kingpin are now actually a completely whole piece of metal. The difference in quality and performance couldn’t be greater. Because of these modifications, the CC Peak stands up to the rigors of a towline and heavy weight with ease, but it absolutely excels with push/pull and ergonomics in general. When the CC Peak is made, there is an initial greasing of the bearings, but after that, you do not ever have to think about it.
