Toyota Material Handling's Transition to CC Nexus Casters

Our team recently conducted a site visit to Toyota Material Handling's production facility, where they showcased our product to the engineers and material handlers. This visit marked the beginning of a collaborative effort to address Toyota's ergonomic challenges in their tire press process. Shortly after the visit, we received an email from Toyota expressing interest in our product.

Initial Setup

Toyota had been using our standard 8" casters. However, they faced issues with manual push/pull operations due to the significant weight of their carts, which initially were thought to be around 1,250 pounds but were later found to be closer to 2,000 pounds.

Identifying the Need for Change

Toyota's carts were manually pushed and pulled, creating ergonomic issues for their associates. The carts, used to maneuver forklift wheels to assembly areas, required stronger casters that performed better ergonomically. They decided to switch to our triple 8 x 3 CC Nexus casters, which provided a significant reduction in push/pull force.

Implementation and Results

After receiving an initial email from Toyota, our team provided recommendations and filled the first sample order in a matter of days. The initial purchase was an order of two rigid and two swivel casters, which was followed by larger orders of 6 and 6, and 14 and 14 casters over the course of a month.
