Reducing Worker Stress with the CC Apex
When material needs to be moved and space is limited, manually pushed and pulled carts are typically used as mobility tools. Using manual carts instead of motorized carts and vehicles increases the importance of easy-rolling casters and wheels to reduce workers’ injury risk. Casters and wheels that are difficult to pull may not be suited for their flooring type, may not be matched to their weight load properly or may not have the appropriate size for their application.
CC Apex casters are a great option for carts that are manually pushed and pulled
The workers at a mid-size manufacturing company were experiencing maneuverability difficulties while pushing and pulling their carts. The client was using 6” semi-steel swivel casters. These wheels were too hard and didn’t contain the kinetic energy that assisted the workers’ in the initial push to begin rolling. The client needed to maintain the same overall height that their 6” caster provided, while improving ergonomics and ease of use.
Concerned for the safety of their employees, the company got in touch with Caster Connection to find a solution to the problem. After inspecting the casters and wheels that the client had in use, Caster Connection recognized the perfect solution for the client.
Caster Connection’s recommendation was to trial two runs of a caster featuring the 6” CC Apex wheel and caster; one trial run of a rigid model, and one of a swivel. As expected, both the swivel and rigid casters drastically improved the ergonomic performance of the carts, reducing the stress placed on workers throughout the plant. The client’s purchasing manager was so pleased with the wheels’ performance that all of their carts were outfitted with casters featuring 4”, 5”, 6” and 8” CC Apex casters.
