Importance of Proper Metric Conversion for Wheels and Casters
After a competitor of Caster Connection recommended a nylon wheel that was an incorrect fit for its meat mixing machine, a food packaging company quickly began to experience problems with the wheel’s performance. The wrongly suggested wheel caused the machine to wobble unpredictably during movement and wore out quickly because it did not fit correctly into the casters specified for the machine. The client was told by Caster Connection’s competitor that there was not another option to solve their issue.
Metric Conversion of Casters and Wheels
After being approached by a Caster Connection Regional Solutions Manager (RSM), the food packaging company gave Caster Connection's RSM an opportunity to solve its mobility issue. Caster Connection studied the client’s application, gathered details and researched products that could provide a solution for the application. During his study of the application, Caster Connection's RSM found that nylon was indeed the correct material for the application, but wheels with metric (rather than U.S. customary units) measurements were needed to satisfy the machine’s requirements.
To satisfy this requirement, Caster Connection's RSM recommended nylon wheels with metric measurements from Blickle.
After using samples of Caster Connection's recommended wheels for 1 week, the client found the wheels to be a great fit for their machine and their application. Here is what the client had to say:
"We used to go through [the previous] wheels monthly, but [the wheels recommended by Caster Connection] have been in use for 8 Months while rolling much more smoothly and showing very little signs of wear.
Even at the cost of not selling me wheels [as frequently as I had purchased them in the past], Caster Connection solved my issue by recommending the perfect wheel and gave me great client service. [In the future] I will use no one other than Caster Connection." - the client’s Maintenance & Purchasing Associate
