CC Peak: An Industry Breakthrough in Ergonomics
A large automotive manufacturing client of Caster Connection is clearly aware of why selecting the right caster is vitally important to keeping business in motion. The client had been using a caster featuring a CC Apex wheel and CC Alpha kingpinless rig for several years with great success. The CC Alpha is engineered to handle most applications, offering superior performance in push/pull and tow lines compared to a traditional kingpin swivel rig.
One of the styles of body shop racks in the client’s new assembly line were used in a rather unique way because they required pushing and pulling from the sides of the cart, rather than traditionally being pushed or pulled from the ends. This nontraditional method of maneuvering required an unacceptable level of required push/pull force. The body shop rack belonged to the client’s new body shop assembly line.
Maneuvering in this way required 40 pounds of push/pull force – which was above the acceptable threshold - because the client was using the CC Alpha in the manner not suited for its design. The client required a caster rig that could provide greater fluid motion and reduction in push/pull force.
Based on the recommendation of a Caster Connection Regional Solutions Manager (RSM), the client upgraded the rigs from the 8” CC Alpha with an extended-lead to the 8” CC Peak with an extended-lead. The combination of the 8” CC Peak extended-lead and CC Apex wheel reduced required push/pull force below 40 pounds and into an acceptable range for the client. The client has been using the combination for one year now and has since been able to pursue other projects without compromise.
