Blickle Casters and Brakes: Security and Ergonomics

Road cases often carry extremely valuable equipment, which is often substantially heavy. While a great deal of importance is placed on the design of the case itself, the casters and brakes that the case is moved on are arguably of equal importance. These cases need to be moved with casters that are capable of ergonomic mobility and brakes that help to keep equipment and people safe.

Protect Valuable Equipment with Blickle Casters and Brakes

An engineering company that specializes in reusable road cases began receiving complaints from their end users about the wheels and braking system on their cases. End users reported that the cases were too difficult to push and pull; the phenolic wheels in use were chipping and the current braking system was disengaging. The braking system was of particular concern, as faulty brakes endanger the safety of equipment and workers.

The cases were large and sturdy, often carrying heavy and expensive equipment. The end user needed a caster and braking system that could handle high weight capacities, protect the equipment being carried, and lock up when needed to. Caster Connection’s Manager of Solutions Engineering (MSE) used his years of experience in the caster industry to find the perfect solution for the engineering company to pass along to its end users.

Caster Connection’s MSE suggested that the engineering firm implement the highly engineered line of Blickle brakes and casters, specifically the Blickle central locking system, “Dead Man’s” brake and the POEV series of wheels.

The POEV wheels provided smoother rolling and higher weight capacity, as well as long term durability. The “Dead Man’s” brake is built into the wheel and requires pressure on the handle to be moved, similar to a lawnmower. The central locking system provides additional security with a braking lever that, when applied, renders the casters and wheels immobile. These braking systems proved to be much more efficient and effective than those previously used, and the engineering firm was thrilled to be integrating casters and brakes that were as high-quality as the cases they sold.
