A Kingpinless Solution for Window Manufacturing
A company that manufactures windows was having a difficult time moving carts using 8” x 2” phenolic rigid and swivel casters. The phenolic wheels were picking up lots of glass pieces from the manufacturing floor, causing them to become very hard to push. The glass shards also led to broken wheels that had to be replaced regularly. Even with smaller weight loads, it still took two people to get the cart moving, which is unacceptable in almost any manufacturing application.
After receiving a request for help from the window manufacturer, a Caster Connection Regional Solution Manager (RSM) visited the facility to assess the situation and recommended an 8” x 2” CC Apex kingpinless caster and an 8” x 2” CC Apex rigid caster. The uniquely-formulated CC Apex polyurethane is specifically designed to boost push/pull efforts and expel debris. Additionally, the kingpinless caster rig was recommended because it provides extra performance benefits for applications that require rigorous pushing and pulling.
After one year in use, the CC Apex casters are still in good condition, showing only normal wheel deterioration. As a result, the facility has saved money and reduced downtime due to injury and maintenance. They have since outfitted more carts with CC Apex casters, and will continue to do so as their operation grows.
