Stainless Steel High Temp Casters For Food Processing Equipment
This article discusses two varieties of high-temperature stainless-steel caster wheels for use in food processing equipment: high temp phenolic and high temp epoxy.
STAINLESS STEEL HIGH TEMP PHENOLIC
The high temp phenolic caster wheel is composed of a mixture of phenolic resin and glass fiber, and can withstand a temperature range from -40°F to 475°F. This wheel is ideal for clean, dry and debris-free flooring because phenolic caster wheels tend to pick up debris over time which can prevent them from rolling smoothly, resulting in shorter lifespans. If your setting is one that requires frequent wash downs, this might not be the wheel for you

STAINLESS STEEL HIGH TEMP EPOXY
High temp epoxy caster wheels are glass fiber mixed with epoxy resin. They offer excellent physical and strength properties to withstand high temperature variations and cooling cycles. Operating temperatures for high temp epoxy casters range from -40°F to 480°F. Epoxy's outstanding properties are resistant to most chemicals and water. Unlike phenolics, epoxy caster wheels perform well in dry and moisture-rich high temp environments.
On the other hand, high temp epoxy caster wheels are made up of glass fiber mixed with epoxy resin, providing them with the strength and durable physical properties to handle even more extreme temperature variations and cooling cycles than the phenolic. This caster wheel is equipped to endure temperatures as low as -40°F and as high as 480°F while also maintaining resistance to most chemicals and water. Epoxy caster wheels will perform well both in dry and moisture-rich, high-temperature environments.

SUMMARY
High temp phenolic caster wheels are great for dry heat environments only, operate best on clean and debris-free floors, and don't do well in settings that need frequent wash downs.
In contrast, high temp epoxy caster wheels are great for both dry and wet environments, and are unaffected by most chemicals and water.
